FAQ
Questions we get asked
Costs, timelines, ownership and how your data is handled. If yours is not here, just ask — we reply within 24 hours.
- How much does a project cost?
- It depends on scope, so we do not publish price lists that would be wrong for your project. After a short call we send a written proposal with a fixed price and timeline for an agreed scope, so there are no hourly surprises. If the budget will not stretch to what you need, we will tell you that on the call rather than after you have paid for discovery.
- How long does a typical project take?
- A focused automation or integration is usually days rather than months. A full web application or MVP is longer, and we break it into milestones you sign off as we go, so you see working software early instead of waiting for a big reveal at the end.
- What if I do not know exactly what I need?
- That is normal and it is part of the job. Most clients arrive with a problem rather than a specification. We turn a rough idea into a written scope with user stories and acceptance criteria, and you approve that before any code is written.
- Who owns the code and the intellectual property?
- You do, completely, once the project is paid for. You get the repository, the deployment credentials and the documentation. We do not hold your systems hostage, and you are free to take the work to another team.
- Do you train AI models on our data?
- No. We do not train foundation models, and we do not use your data to train anything. We build on top of existing AI platforms, and your data is used only to answer your own queries — through retrieval at request time, not by baking it into a model.
- Where does our data live, and is it secure?
- Wherever you need it to. We deploy to your infrastructure or to a provider and region you choose, so data residency requirements can be met. Access controls are built in from the start, so a retrieval system only ever returns what the person asking is allowed to see.
- What is an AI agent, in plain terms?
- A normal program follows steps you wrote in advance. An agent is given a goal and works out the steps itself — reading data, calling your systems, checking the result and trying again if it went wrong. That makes it useful for work with too many variations to script, like handling messy documents or multi-step admin tasks.
- Do we need RAG or fine-tuning?
- For most small and medium businesses, retrieval (RAG) is the right answer. It is cheaper, updates the moment your documents change, and can cite its sources. Fine-tuning suits changing how a model writes or behaves rather than what it knows, and it is rarely the first thing you need. We will say if your case is the exception.
- Can you work with our existing codebase?
- Yes, including older PHP and jQuery systems — that is where a lot of our eighteen years was spent. We can extend what you have, modernise it in stages, or replace it, and we will give you an honest view on which of those actually makes sense for your budget.
- What if we already have developers?
- Then we work alongside them. Sometimes that means taking one project off their plate, sometimes it is building an AI capability the team has not worked with before and handing it over with documentation so they can maintain it.
- Do you offer ongoing support after launch?
- Yes. Most clients move onto a monthly retainer covering updates, monitoring, and a block of small feature work. For business-critical systems we offer agreed response times. Neither is compulsory — you can take the code and run it yourself.
- How do we get started?
- Send us a message describing what you are trying to build. We reply within 24 hours, usually with questions. Then a short call to pin down scope, and a written proposal with timeline and cost. You are not committed to anything until you accept that proposal.
Still unsure whether we are the right fit? Say what you are trying to build and we will tell you honestly — including when the answer is that you do not need us.
Got a question that is not here?
Send it over. You will get an answer from the founder within 24 hours, not a sales sequence.
